Squires Estate

Squires Estate is a collection of six beautifully restored nineteenth-century homes on a scenic hillside set above Governor's Harbour. Part of the Bahamian Heritage of Historical Buildings, the properties beautifully exhibit the colonial-style Bahamian architectural tradition updated with modern conveniences.

The private, discreet, well appointed estate is located near the powdery pink sands of French Leave beach and features gorgeous views of Cupid’s Cay. One property consists of Belmont House and two separate guests cottages called 'The Cottage' and 'The Junior Cottage' that are all laid out on more than an acre of beautiful gardens, situated at the top of Buccaneer Hill. The second property, few steps down, covers an acre and a half of tropical gardens and consists of three houses, Mrs. Russel's House, The Stone House and Toad's Hall.

The Belmont House

The house also features air conditioning, wireless internet, hi-fi stereo, cordless telephone, washer and dryer. Many of the pieces were custom made by an Italian architect and designer using dark and light woods and antique traditions. The property consists of a two level main house and two guest cottages that can be rent with the house or separately.

Mrs. Russel House

During the recent restoration all of the original and historic architecture was preserved while still accommodating the needs of modern luxury living.

The essence of the past can really be felt as you feel immersed in the intimate and nostalgic interior décor. Mixing original furnishings with a unique blend of creatively researched pieces recreates a sense of colonial nostalgia.

Mrs. Russel's House consists of three master bedrooms. The house has a living room, dining room, fully equipped island kitchen, and terrace. The furnishings include state of the art appliances, flat screen TV, and air conditioning, ceiling fan, wireless internet and cordless telephone.

The estate is surrounded by a lush garden which is home to many fruit trees, Bougainvillea, Hibiscus, Aloe and Coconut palms. Those are just a few of the plants that grace this serene property. The infinity pool serves both Mrs. Russel's House and Toad's Hall. The pool deck is dramatic with its views of the Harbour and adds to the delight of these well-manicured grounds.

The Toad's Hall

Toad Hall is exquisitely unique and the oldest house of the entire estate. To match the quality of the handsomely restored exterior, decorating the interior became a labor of love. The house reverberates with a musical theme as hand-made musical instruments come to life in a cheerful medley of playful shapes and sizes. The designer had a passion for mixing and matching original pieces of furniture selected from overseas antique stores. There are also airy splashes of color as pure lime wash adorns the walls.
