There is just too much to see, too much to do [or not to do] at Tiamo. The trained biologists that make up your Nature Concierge Team take guests on daily trips to explore the abundant natural attractions. Experience the best in Bahamas snorkeling, including the tropical underwater landscape of the magnificent off-shore blue holes. Navigate crystal-clear waters by kayak or sail on the South Bight. View wild orchids and the endangered Andros rock iguana during a hike through several different ecosystems. Or simply choose to watch the tide change and reflect on life from a gently swaying hammock. Go for a beach walk, get your toes in the sand and let the warm breeze gently melt your stress away.

Rarely will you find such a diversity of ocean and island life and marine geological features all within a 10-minute boat ride. Both first-time snorkelers and seasoned snorkelers enjoy guided trips to unique snorkel sites. The warm and shallow water right off Tiamo beach is an ideal place for beginners, who will see conch, sea cucumbers and huge cushion stars that frequent the shore. A little farther offshore are the amazing blue holes, immensely deep underwater caverns that are all connected and extend down hundreds of feet.

Take out a sailboat — don’t worry if it’s your first time, the team at Tiamo will chose the perfect sailboat for you, and show you the ropes. Enjoy skimming over the gin-clear water. Kick back and relax while you steer with foot pedals, and bring your first mate along to recline in one of the comfy nets strung on the out riggers. These wonderfully designed sailboats will not flip over, so you can safely try your hand at the helm in the protected waterways of the South Bight without a worry.

A guided kayak trip takes you along a 20-minute trek up the bight shoreline to one of the most unique snorkel sites on the island. Swim under a natural rock bridge and resurface in a lagoon that leads to an incredible underwater fissure in the limestone, called “The Crack.” It is home to hawksbill sea turtles and moray eels as well as many different types of fish, crustaceans and invertebrates. (Tiamo is hoping to make this the first national park on the island.)

Because Andros is the bonefish capital of the world, Tiamo is perfectly suited for the perfect bonefishing experience. Anglers from around the world travel to the Out Islands of the Bahamas in search of a reel-burning, 10-pound bonefish catch. Tiamo has 5 fully affliiated bone fish guides. Our Guides are the most experienced in the region and know the area and the fabled West side like the back of their hands. Guests also may choose to go deep-sea fishing into the Tongue of the Ocean on one of our fun fishing expeditions to catch supper which chef will then cook for you.
