The white sandy beach on Fernandez Bay is wonderful for walking, and running. The sandy bottom extends out into the bay and is great for swimming, kayaking, sailing, waterskiing and snorkeling. The small keys in the middle of the bay are great for snorkeling from the beach. Biking to the Hermitage is a good way to see the island, meet the local Cat Islanders and see view from the highest point in the Bahamas. Biking to the North shore introduces you to a completely different Cat Island personality, with surf crashing in from the open Atlantic Ocean. While there’s plenty to fill up your day, some people just like to take in the natural surroundings and lounge by the beach or pool.
It’s easy to take advantage of different activities, since the resort provides kayaks, sunfish and sail boats and Boston Whalers for guests only. Guided snorkeling tours to ("The Boiling Hole") blue hole can be arranged at the resort. Other excursions offered include deep-sea fishing, snorkeling trips, bonefishing trips, eco tours and historical tours of the ruins and colonial times.
Plus, there are tennis courts and bikes to borrow for exploring all of Cat Island. Fernandez Bay Village has a deep sea fishing captain and a bone fishing guide on staff with boats and all the advice you need to make your trip fun and successful.
One of the popular November events is the Annual Fernandez Bay to North Shore Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot, for those spending the holiday in the Out Islands of the Bahamas.
